October 21st marks a special anniversary this year - 60 years of our iconic PILOT Capless Retractable Fountain Pen. To commemorate the occasion, we proudly offer the ‘KANREKI’ Capless Limited Edition 2023 release. Only 2023 pieces will be made available worldwide.

The term ‘Kanreki’ stems from ‘kan’還 meaning ‘return’ and ‘reki’ 暦 denoting ‘calendar’.

In Japanese tradition, when an individual reaches the age of 60, they have completed five full cycles of the Jikkan Junishi (based on the Chinese Zodiac) and returned to their original birth sign. A 60th Anniversary is not merely seen as a reflection of time passed but as a rebirth: a unique opportunity to embark on a new chapter in life and start afresh.

When storing your fountain pen, ensure it is always capped or retracted to avoid drying out.

We recommend storing it horizontally or with the fountain pen nib up if it is inked.

Piston fillers like the CUSTOM 823 have a blind cap at the end of the barrel which should be screwed down to close off ink flow, making it a superb pen to travel with.

One of the pleasures of fountain pens is that they require very little pressure to write as ink flows smoothly through the nib. Be more gentle than you would with a ballpoint or rollerball. Pushing too hard will damage the nib.
